Students invited to interact with employers, learn about graduate school during Career Day

Northwest Missouri State University students have the opportunity to network with employers offering full-time, summer and internship positions and graduate schools during the University’s Career Services annual spring Career Day from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, in Bearcat Arena.

More than 80 employers, representing an array of industries and appealing to all majors, are scheduled to attend Career Day. Representatives will attend on behalf of Cerner Corporation, Bartlett & Company, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and Kansas City Power and Light, among other employers.

A new feature of this year’s Career Day will be “Straight Talk from Employers” sessions. Session topics include resumes, the scale of professional success and social media, the new hire and getting your foot in the door.

In conjunction with Career Day, Northwest’s Graduate Information Fair gives students an opportunity to visit with representatives from Northwest’s Graduate School at the north end of Bearcat Arena from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Northwest’s Career Services website includes a complete list of registered employers, graduate schools and preparatory materials. The materials include resume and cover letter writing guides and instructional videos ranging in topics from “How to Attend a Northwest Career Day” to self-marketing and networking skills. Interview tips and services designed to assist in career exploration and preparation also are available.
