The Northwest Missouri State University community collected 1,321 pounds of canned goods Nov. 14 during an annual food drive sponsored by the University’s American Marketing Association chapter and Student Senate.
The American Marketing Association and Student Senate invited students and residents of Nodaway County communities together to support less fortunate people during the annual “Turkey Trot” event. Participating student organizations went door-to-door, collecting canned foods for the Maryville Ministry Center.
The organization that collected the most pounds of food received $100 while second and third-place teams each received $50.
The winning organization was Sigma Society, which collected 243 pounds of donated items. Alpha Sigma Alpha placed second by collecting 184 pounds of donated items, and Sigma Tau Gamma placed third, collecting 145 pounds of items.
