AMA, Student Senate to host ‘Turkey Trot’ canned food drive

Northwest Missouri State University’s chapter of the American Marketing Association and Student Senate are bringing students and Nodaway County communities together to support less fortunate people with their annual canned food drive.

The “Turkey Trot” event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Colden Pond. Participating organizations will go door-to-door, asking for canned foods to be donated to the Maryville Ministry Center. 

Each team will be assigned an area of the community, and the organization that collects the most pounds of food will receive $100. Second and third-place teams will each receive $50. 

To participate, organizations should submit the name of their group, the number of individuals participating and a contact person to Lauren Catlett at The deadline for teams to register is 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8.
