The Northwest Dance Company at Northwest Missouri State University will present its annual fall show “Live for the Applause” at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, in the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.
Tickets may be purchased with cash or a Bearcat Card for $5 at the Student Services Center on the first floor of the Administration Building or with cash at the door on the night of the show.
The show will feature a variety of dance styles, including jazz, hip hop, modern, lyrical, tap and clogging. Cam Madsen, a senior business management and marketing major from Kansas City, will emcee the show.
Now in its 13th year, the Northwest Dance Company is a student organization at the University with a mission of giving students opportunities to perform dance and be involved in the community. The group performs two shows each year.
The Dance Company will host tryouts for spring 2014 at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, and Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Martindale Dance Studio. Participants need to be present for both days, and there is a $5 fee to audition.
Ashley Robinson, a senior majoring in therapeutic recreation and psychology, is the organization’s president and has been involved with the Northwest Dance Company since her freshman year.
“Northwest Dance Company is a close-knit organization that gives students an opportunity to continue dancing throughout their college careers while building strong and lasting friendships” Robinson said.
