Melinda Kelsey, a graphic designer in Northwest Missouri State University’s Office of University Relations, is a recipient of a 2013 APEX Award for Publication Excellence in the design and layout category for Northwest’s 2012-13 undergraduate viewbook.
The viewbook, a collaborative production of the Office of University Relations and the Office of Admissions, is published each August. Thirty-six thousand copies are printed and distributed annually to prospective Northwest students and other audiences.
The APEX Annual Awards for Publication Excellence is an international awards program recognizing excellence in publications work by professional communicators.
This year, more than 2,400 entries were submitted, and other winners in the design and layout category included The Walt Disney Company, Monmouth University and Lockheed Martin.
John DeLellis, editor and publisher of Communication Concepts, the company that sponsors the competition, said the APEX Awards are based on excellence in editorial content, graphic design and the ability to achieve overall communications effectiveness and excellence.
The Northwest Alumni Magazine, which Kelsey also designs, is a two-time winner of the APEX Award of Excellence in 2007 and 2011.
