Celebration, the show choir of Northwest Missouri State University, will present its annual Spring Show at 8 p.m., Friday, April 26, in the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.
Accompanied by a nine-piece stage band, the 32-member Celebration choir will present an evening of singing and dancing under the theme, “The House is Rockin’,” featuring songs stretching from rock to pop to swing.
The Spring Show is free and open to the public.
“The Celebration Spring Show is a fantastic event that brings a high level of performance to the campus and community,” said Dr. Brian Lanier, Celebration director and Northwest associate professor of music.
Celebration members represent a variety of majors across the University campus. During the fall trimester, they are The Madraliers, a chamber choir that presents concerts on and off campus, including the annual Yuletide Feaste.
Earlier this year, the Madraliers choral ensemble was one of three college choirs in Missouri selected to perform for the 75th annual Missouri Music Educators Association Conference at Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach. It was the second consecutive year the Madraliers had been invited to perform at the conference. In 2012, the choir also performed at the American Choral Directors Association Southwest Division Convention in Dallas, Texas. The invitations to perform at these prestigious venues were results of a highly competitive audition process.
