Northwest Missouri State University fraternity and sorority members will lead a one-mile walk in an effort to raise awareness for domestic violence during the annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event.
Northwest’s Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Panhellenic Council are sponsoring the walk, which begins at 4 p.m. Friday, April 5, at the Memorial Bell Tower. Registration is $10, which includes a T-shirt. All proceeds go to the Children and Family Center of Northwest Missouri, which provides safe shelter and a nurturing environment with dedicated services to individuals dealing with abuse.
Fraternity members will wear high heels for the walk, and Northwest Greek Life members encourage the public to join them.
“This is a very important cause to us,” said Trevor Johnson, IFC’s vice president of philanthropy. “We want to show our support to the victims of domestic violence and hopefully make an impact in the Maryville community.”
