Northwest Missouri State University announces today the naming of Nola Bond as its vice president of human resources.

As vice president of human resources, Bond’s duties include addressing employee recruitment, onboarding, appraisal, retention and professional development processes; oversight of workforce planning, compensation and benefits; addressing the valuing of employees and culture enhancement; and partnering with employee groups.

“Nola is an accomplished human resource leader with proven expertise in strategic planning and leading organizational change. Her background and expertise are suited perfectly to help continue moving Northwest forward as an organization that focuses on student success,” said Northwest President Dr. John Jasinski. “She has been praised as a top performer by her previous employers, and the University is honored to have someone of her caliber joining the Northwest family.”

Bond comes to Northwest from Eaton Corporation in Shenandoah, Iowa, where she served as human resource manager and was a member of the senior leadership team. She was responsible for leading the HR department in a 600-employee operation and setting the strategic direction and the management of all areas of human resource practices, including employee relations, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, merit and compensation planning, wage and benefit administration, wellness programs, payroll oversight and continuous improvement project management. In addition, Bond served as Eaton’s HR supervisor and training and safety coordinator at the Shenandoah facility and held the HR manager role at Eaton’s 125-employee operation in South Bend, Ind. Bond also was director of human resources for the Heartland Area Education Agency 11 in Johnston, Iowa, which serves 800-employees in 50 central Iowa school districts.

“I am honored to serve Northwest as its vice president of human resources,” Bond said. “I’m confident my diverse human resource experiences will be valuable to the continued success of the University. Growing up in southwest Iowa, I’m aware of the values and honored traditions the University holds. My husband, JJ, my sons, Britton (9) and Brooks (4), and I are excited to be a part of something so great and to join the Maryville community.”

Bond, who has a degree in human resource management from Bellevue (Neb.) University, has also received numerous certifications, including Senior Professional in Human Resources, Professional in Human Resources and Certified Change Management Specialist.

Bond will begin her new role April 8. She fills the vacancy left by the June 2012 retirement of Mary Throener. Clarence Green has served as the University’s interim vice president of human resources.
