Northwest Missouri State University students have opportunities to perfect their interviewing skills and apply them during events offered by the University’s Career Services office in coming weeks.
Career Services will host its annual spring Mock Interview Day Thursday, Feb. 28, giving students a chance to familiarize themselves with the interview process, interact with employers in a low-pressure setting and receive feedback on their interviews and resumes. Interested students must register by Friday, Feb. 22, and can do so by clicking here.
Additionally, Northwest’s annual spring Career Day is 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Bearcat Arena. Students can interact with employers offering full-time, summer and internship opportunities.
In conjunction with the Career Day, Northwest’s Graduate Information Fair gives students an opportunity to visit with representatives from Northwest’s Graduate School at the north end of Bearcat Arena from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
More than 80 employers are scheduled to attend Career Day, representing an array of industries and appealing to all majors. Representatives will attend on behalf of Cerner Corporation, Bartlett & Company, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Garmin International and more.
Northwest’s Career Services website includes a complete list of registered employers, graduate schools and preparatory materials. The materials include resume and cover letter writing guides and instructional videos ranging in topics from “How to Attend a Northwest Career Day” to self-marketing and networking skills. Interview tips and services designed to assist in career exploration and preparation are also available.
Additionally, Career Services will host its Education Expo from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, in the Bearcat Arena to connect qualified teacher applicants with perspective school districts.
Events and tools like these offered by Career Services and other programs at the University continue to play an important role in helping Northwest students be successful after they graduate. According to the most recent survey of Northwest graduates, 95 percent of undergraduates report finding employment or continuing their education within six months of graduation.
