Gov. Jay Nixon has announced his appointments of John W. Richmond (D), of Albany, and Dr. Patrick B. Harr (R), of Maryville, to the Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents.
The Senate confirmed both appointments, along with the appointment of Regent Gene Dorrel, Feb. 7. Richmond fills the Board seat of Lydia Hurst, and Harr fills the Board seat of Douglas L. Sutton. The terms of Hurst and Sutton are expired.
The Governor has appointed Richmond and Harr for terms ending Jan. 1, 2019.
Richmond served 29 years as the president and CEO of Northwest Medical Center in Albany. Richmond owns a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a master’s degree in hospital administration from Webster University.
Harr spent 38 years practicing medicine in Maryville and served as a volunteer physician for Northwest athletics teams before retiring last June. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia and attended Northwest where he studied pre-medicine.
The Board of Regents develops policy and has responsibility for sound resource management of the University, and determines general, educational and financial policies.
