Art organizations to host art show, pottery sale Dec. 7-8
The Clay Club and Art Association at Northwest Missouri State University will host their Winter Art Show and Christmas Pottery Sale, Dec. 7-8, in the Fire Arts Building, located south of the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building at West Third and Munn Avenue.
Hours for the event are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Artwork may be purchased by cash or check. A line of customers often forms before the show opens, so patrons are encouraged to come early.
Students from all studio emphasis areas are encouraged to participate, and the event features pottery for sale as well as displays of sculpture, paintings, drawings, prints and photographs.
Art student group Kappa Pi also will display information and offer small items for sale to raise funds for their international program, Kashmir Crossover, a partnership developed among Northwest art students and students at the University of Kashmir in Srinagar, Kashmir.
Clay Club also will be raising funds to attend NCECA, a national ceramics conference in Houston, Texas, in March 2013.
“The Winter Pottery Sale is an excellent opportunity to support our students in their studies here at Northwest while purchasing one of a kind, handmade gifts for the holidays,” said Laura Kukkee, associate professor of art. “Prices are extremely reasonable, and there should be something to fit everyone's taste and budget.”
Kukkee added, 85 percent of the proceeds go directly to students to help offset the cost of art supplies. Remaining proceeds support art-oriented activities, visiting artists, field trips and other co-curricular activities for the Clay Club and Art Association. For more information, contact Kukkee at 660.562.1324 or email@example.com.
