The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Northwest Missouri State University has entered into an agreement with Missouri Moisture Analyzers LLC, the University and company announced today.
Missouri Moisture Analyzers LLC is an agriculture-technology company that builds and calibrates moisture control analyzers used in agriculture production and grain storage. Missouri Moisture Analyzers plans to sell, assemble and maintain equipment and service contracts in the United States, Mexico and Central America.
The CIE and Maryville community offer the expertise and location to help accelerate the company to the marketplace. Under the terms of the agreement, approved by the University’s Board of Regents, Missouri Moisture Analyzers will lease just over 1,000 square feet of space in the CIE. The company is estimated to create seven to nine new jobs the first year.
“As a company, we were seeking a location in the center of the United States, close to agricultural production throughout North America,” said Henrique da Silva, CEO of Missouri Moisture Analyzers. “The state of Missouri, through the Missouri Partnership and the Kansas City Area Development Council, introduced us to Maryville and the expertise provided by Larry Lee at the CIE and Lee Langerock with Nodaway County Economic Development. The community works as a team, and we are confident that the service provided by that team will make a definite difference in the development of our North American markets.”
Da Silva added, “Our customer needs are paramount, and we look forward to working with Northwest Missouri State University faculty and students in the further development of customized products.”
Larry Lee, director of the CIE, said the facility’s incubation climate is ideal for helping Missouri Moisture Analyzers mature.
“The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is uniquely positioned to help entrepreneurs like Missouri Moisture Analyzers LLC access resources through the business community, Missouri Small Business and Technology Development Centers, Northwest Missouri State University, and other business assistance programs to help them develop the skills and build relationships they need to be successful,” Lee said.
Built on the platform of quality control and customer service, Missouri Moisture Analyzers is a newly formed company designed to develop and introduce improved agri-technology in moisture analysis to the North American marketplace. The principals bring more than 25 years of experience in Brazil as Motomco Group South America, including the development and management of seven locations in Brazil, two in South America and a location in Canada.
The CIE is a mixed-use incubator with emphasis on technology-based, start-up companies. It also provides assistance to existing small businesses and encourages development of new small businesses. The 46,679 square-foot facility includes three lab analysis research areas, a shared scientific instrument room and 9,000 square feet of tenant office space. The academic wing contains more than 16,000 square feet of highly specialized teaching and research labs and offices.
