Comedian Steve-O, who is best known for his stunts in the MTV series “Jackass,” will visit Northwest Missouri State University to perform his stand-up act at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.
The performance is sponsored by Northwest’s Student Activities Council and is open to the public. Tickets may be purchased by visiting the Student Services Center on the first floor of the Administration Building or by calling 660.562.1212. Tickets are $7 for Northwest students and $10 for the public.
Steve-O, aka Stephen Glover, who got his start making homemade skateboarding videos that combined dangerous stunts with comical behavior, became a household name when his videos landed in the hands of Jeff Tremaine, a producer working with Johnny Knoxville to create a stunt-based reality show. MTV soon aired the first season of “Jackass” in 2000, and Steve-O launched his “Steve-O Don’t Try This At Home Tour” the next year, performing at venues throughout the U.S. and a dozen countries.
The TV series led to three “Jackass” films and a spinoff, titled “Wildboyz,” which aired on MTV and MTV2. In 2009, Steve-O competed on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” In 2011, he released an autobiography, “Professional Idiot: A Memoir.” For more information about Steve-O, visit his website at www.steveo.com.
