Maryville residents James W. “Bill” and Jessica (O'Rourke) Loch will serve as the Northwest Missouri State University 2012 Homecoming parade grand marshals, the University's student-led Homecoming committee has announced.
“In choosing the 2012 Homecoming grand marshal, we looked at who has given back to Northwest in multiple ways,” said Sadie Vorbrich, co-chair of Northwest’s 2012 Homecoming Executive Board. “As a committee we are happy to have them as our Homecoming grand marshals.”
Bill attended Northwest from 1969 to 1972, and Jessica is a 1972 graduate. The couple has long-standing ties to the University and financed the Loch-O'Rourke Family Center at Bearcat Stadium, which opened in 2005 and was rededicated in 2010, in honor of their parents. Bill is vice president of Maryville-based Loch Sand and Construction Co., and he served on Northwest’s Board of Regents from 2006 to this past April, when his term expired; his tenure included a term as Board president. Jessica has been involved with the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority.
The grand marshal is selected by a committee of students serving on the Homecoming executive board. Nominations are open to retired and current faculty or staff members, current students, alumni and friends of Northwest.
As grand marshals, the Lochs will lead the parade and participate in Homecoming activities throughout the week. The parade begins at 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at the corner of Ray and College avenues and proceeds east to the University entrance at Fourth Street, continues east on Fourth Street and ending past the courthouse square at Fourth Street and North Vine.
Northwest will celebrate its 2012 Homecoming week, “Superheroes and Villains,” Oct. 28 through Nov. 4. Events are open to all Northwest students, alumni, faculty, staff, families, friends and community members. For more information, click here.
