Volunteers needed for annual fall BRUSH Sept. 16

Students at Northwest Missouri State University are being invited to volunteer their time and service again this fall during the University’s annual fall BRUSH.

BRUSH, or Beautifying Residences Using Student Help, was launched in 2004 and gives Northwest students opportunities to work on landscaping, painting and other home improvement projects in support of residents, businesses and groups throughout the Maryville community.

“BRUSH provides an opportunity for students to become involved in our community,” said Amy Nally, Northwest's director of volunteer, service learning and civic engagement. “It promotes responsibility to ‘give back’ to society and helps them achieve a lifetime commitment to service and helping others.”

This year’s BRUSH project is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Mozingo Lake. Volunteers will paint and stain five cabins and the recreation area’s multi-meeting cabin.

Signup sheets also may be submitted by student organizations by 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13.

Student volunteers will receive a T-shirt for participating. Pizza and beverages also will be provided.
