The popular duo Timeflies will bring its unique style of music to Northwest Missouri State University for an Oct. 19 concert, the University’s Student Activities Council announced today.
The concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Mary Linn Auditorium at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.
Tickets are free for students and will be available Tuesday, Sept. 4. Each student will receive one ticket after presenting his or her Bearcat Card. Remaining tickets will be available to the public Tuesday, Sept 18, and will cost $5.
"As an organization, SAC wanted to bring in a talent that was new to the scene,” said Kyle Ryals, SAC’s director of concert programming. “We were looking for a group that grasped the feel of what it takes to excite a college audience as well as relate to them with songs that center upon what takes place in a college atmosphere. With the excitement this group has been generating on this campus since early last year, the choice to bring Timeflies was a no-brainer."
Formed in 2010 by Cal Shapiro and Rob Resnick, the duo is riding the wave of their debut album, “The Scotch Tape,” which rose to No. 2 on the iTunes Pop Chart.
Additionally, the duo has built a following with “Timeflies Tuesday,” a series of remixes, live covers and free-styled songs uploaded to YouTube. In July, Timeflies released “Under The Influence,” a six-track, sample-based mixtape of cover songs. Timeflies expects to release its second album of original tracks this fall.
