Reservation deadline extended for Tourin’ Bearcats’ trip to Albuquerque balloon festival

The reservation deadline for the Tourin’ Bearcats’ getaway to New Mexico and the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta has been extended. Travelers interested in joining a Northwest Alumni Association-sponsored trip to the largest ballooning event in the world have until Friday, June 1, to make their reservations.

The getaway, which is open to the public, is Oct. 5-9 and costs $1,699 per person, based on double occupancy, and includes roundtrip airfare from Kansas City. Alternative departure locations can be accommodated.

To reserve your space, submit a check for the full payment, made to Cotter Travel, and mail it to Northwest Missouri State University, Alumni House, 800 University Dr., Maryville, MO 64468.

During the trip, travelers will attend the predawn opening ceremonies and the mass ascension of hundreds of hot air balloons; witness the Balloon Glow, when all the balloons fire up their burners and light up at the same time; view the After-Glow Fireworks Show; take part in a sightseeing tour, with visits to Albuquerque’s Old Town, the International Balloon Museum and the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center; and enjoy a guided walking tour in Santa Fe, including the San Miguel Mission and Loretto Chapel’s Miracle Stairway. The trip cost includes escorted land tours, hotel, airport transfers in Albuquerque, daily breakfast and a farewell luncheon.
