Animal science major receives scholarship in memory of Savannah native
Hannah Hegeman, a sophomore at Northwest Missouri State University, is the recipient of the Matthew White Memorial Scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year.
Hegeman is an animal science major from Cosby and a graduate of Savannah High School. She is the daughter of Dan and Fran Hegeman.
The scholarship is named after Matthew White, an agriculture business major who died in a 2005 automobile accident after completing his sophomore year at Northwest. The scholarship was established in 2006 by his parents and Northwest alumni, Steve and Julie White, of Savannah.
The endowed scholarship is awarded to a continuing student at Northwest who is majoring in an agriculture-related field of study. A scholarship of at least $500 is awarded with preference to graduates of Savannah High School in Savannah, North Andrew High School in Rosendale, and the states of Missouri or Iowa.
