Northwest Missouri State University students recently voted to decide who will represent them on the 90th Student Senate for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Riley Ziemer, a junior business management and marketing major from Winchester, Kan., was elected president of the Student Senate.
Ziemer served as treasurer of the 89th Student Senate. He also serves as the president of Phi Delta Theta and was an overall co-chair of Greek Week. He is a member of Interfraternity Council, To Write Love On Her Arms, Ad Ink and the Homecoming Special Events Committee.
As Student Senate president Ziemer said he hopes to enhance communication.
“I want to build better communication between senators and students, and become a more transparent senate, by posting budget updates, minutes and any breaking news on our Facebook, Twitter and website,” he said.
Joining Ziemer on the Student Senate's executive board are Executive Vice President Gunner Sumy, a political science major from St. Joseph; Executive Secretary Tassi Cook, an interactive digital new media: new media major from Pleasantville, Iowa; and Executive Treasurer Brock Spinner, a business management and marketing major from St. Joseph.
