Reservations accepted for Tourin’ Bearcats’ trip to Albuquerque’s hot air balloon festival
A getaway to New Mexico and the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the largest ballooning event in the world, is the next trip offered by the Tourin’ Bearcats.
The Northwest Alumni Association-sponsored trip, which is open to the public, is Oct. 5-9. The cost is $1,699 per person, based on double occupancy, and includes roundtrip airfare from Kansas City. Alternative departure locations can be accommodated.
During the trip, travelers will attend the predawn opening ceremonies and the mass ascension of hundreds of hot air balloons; witness the Balloon Glow, when all the balloons fire up their burners and light up at the same time; view the After-Glow Fireworks Show; take part in a sightseeing tour, with visits to Albuquerque’s Old Town, the International Balloon Museum and the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center; and enjoy a guided walking tour in Santa Fe, including the San Miguel Mission and Loretto Chapel’s Miracle Stairway. The trip cost includes escorted land tours, hotel, airport transfers in Albuquerque, daily breakfast and a farewell luncheon.
“The Northwest Alumni Association’s Tourin’ Bearcats travel program is a wonderful way to travel in comfort and to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Bearcats – whether you’re a Northwest alum, a Bearcat fan or simply looking for a fun getaway,” said Steve Sutton, Northwest’s director of alumni relations. “We’re happy to take care of the travel arrangements for our guests so they can enjoy their vacation, and based on the interest and participation in the Tourin’ Bearcats program over the past several years, there is certainly a high demand for these trips.”
Recent Tourin’ Bearcats adventures include trips to Hawaii, San Antonio, the Rhine River and Virginia, and a group of 45 Bearcats will depart on a journey to Ireland later this month.
