Praised as “the hottest new classical band in New York,” Fireworks will perform for Northwest Missouri State University’s Encore performing arts series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.
With its superb performances, Fireworks brings a fresh perspective to established audiences and creates an exciting and inspiring experience for new generations of listeners. Fireworks performs an extraordinary range of musical styles – including classical, rock, jazz and world music – to bring audiences a phenomenal contemporary musical experience.
“One of the things we always try to accomplish with the Encore series is to bring an instrumental show to campus, and this show fulfills that goal,” Northwest Director of Campus Activities Angel McAdams Prescott said. “Given the style and genre of music Fireworks plays, the band truly brings a fresh way of hearing instrumental music. Students or community members will find this group plays modern music and songs they know, and they will be introduced to the music in a different way.”
Orchestra tickets cost $25 and balcony tickets are $23. Children’s tickets are $15 and $13. Northwest employees may purchase discounted orchestra tickets for $23. Admission is free for Northwest students with a Bearcat Card.
Tickets may be purchased at the Student Services Center, located on the first floor of the Administration Building, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, by calling 660.562.1212 or online at http://www.nwmissouri.edu/campusactivities/tickets.htm.
Sponsored by Northwest’s Office of Campus Activities, the 2011-2012 Encore performing arts series concludes Thursday, April 12, with a performance by the Flying Karamazov Brothers.
