Governor announces release of funding for higher education

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has announced the release of $2.23 million for current university and community college operating appropriations, Northwest Missouri State University learned today.

Gov. Nixon provided the additional funds as they became available because of increases in a dedicated state funding source to support public education, according to a news release from the Governor’s Office.

Northwest Missouri State University President Dr. John Jasinski said the additional funding is welcome.

“The value of public higher education cannot be overstated,” he said. “We want everyone to continue to see the value of public higher education and know that what we’re doing makes a difference for our students.”
