Mike Posner to headline spring concert at Northwest April 19
Updated March 28, 2012
Hip hop artist Mike Posner will perform with special guest Jeremih at Northwest Missouri State University for the Student Activities Council's spring concert.
The show is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, in Bearcat Arena.
Hip hop and R&B artist Jeremih replaces rappers New Boyz who were initially slated to appear with Posner. Because of the change and to thank students for their support, SAC is giving students the opportunity to purchase one additional ticket between Thursday, March 29, and Monday, April 2.
Tickets for students are available for purchase at the Student Services Center on the first floor of the Administration Building. Student tickets are $10 and may be purchased with a Bearcat Card.
Tickets for the general public are $25 and will be available at 8 a.m. Monday, April 2, at the Student Services Center. At that time, Northwest students may purchase additional tickets at the general public price. Tickets also may be purchased by calling 660.562.1212.
Kyle Ryals, Student Activities Council director of concert programming, announced Posner would be the concert headliner Feb. 24 on Northwest's student-operated radio station, 106.7 KZLX, during a live broadcast from Up ‘til Dawn’s Colden Pond Plunge.
“We hope to provide the audience with an opportunity to attend a concert they will not only enjoy, but also remember for years to come,” Ryals said.
A Detroit native, Posner released his debut album, “31 Minutes to Takeoff” in 2010 and found success with the top 10 single “Cooler Than Me” as well as “Please Don't Go” and “Bow Chicka Wow Wow.” His sophomore album, “Sky High,” is due for release this year.
Jeremih is known for hits that include “Down on Me,” which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Top 100, and “Birthday Sex,” which peaked at No. 14. A third hit, “Imma Star,” peaked at No. 51.
“After seeing the success he has experienced throughout the Midwest and at the college level, coupled with the fit he provides in support of Mike Posner, we saw this option as a no-brainer,” Ryals said. “With popular songs such as ‘Down On Me,’ ‘Birthday Sex’ and ‘Imma Star,’ students are sure to know the choice to bring Jeremih to Northwest is one that we feel more than comfortable having made.”
The Student Activities Council plans and administers activities for the student body, in order to contribute to a more well-rounded social, recreational, and cultural life for the Northwest campus and community. SAC provides entertaining alternatives to students with late night activities and events throughout the year including concerts, lectures, movies and comedians.
