Annual Mock Interview Day gives students chance to practice interviewing skills with real employers
Northwest Missouri State University's Office of Career Services on Wednesday, Feb. 15, will hosts its annual Mock Interview Day, giving students in all majors an opportunity to practice their interviewing skills with real employers.
The event is 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the third floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union. Each mock interview session is about 40 minutes, which includes 20 minutes to conduct the interview and 10 to 15 minutes to evaluate the student’s resume and interviewing skills.
The goal of the event is to help Northwest students gain interviewing experience by meeting face-to-face with real employers. After the mock interview, employers provide students with direct feedback on their resumes, interview responses and overall impressions. Northwest encourages employers to use their own interview format to make the mock interviews as close to a real interview as possible.
More than 40 employers are participating in this year’s Mock Interview Day and more than 330 Northwest students are signed up for interviews. Participating companies include Hallmark Cards, Cerner Corporation, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Cargill Inc. and VML as well as a number of area school districts.
