Submissions sought for annual library research contest
Entries are now being accepted for the B.D. Owens Library Research Awards contest, which honors and highlights the outstanding scholarly and research activities of Northwest Missouri State University undergraduate students.
The deadline to enter is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15. Prizes will be awarded during the Northwest Awards and Recognition Ceremony, at 3:30 p.m., Monday, April 9 in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom.
The authors of the top three papers or projects, will be awarded Walmart gift certificates of $200 for first place, $150 of second place and $100 for third place.
Any Northwest undergraduate student may participate in the contest by submitting a paper or project completed during the 2011 spring, summer or fall trimesters. Papers or projects should be a minimum of six pages (not counting bibliography pages) and include cited sources. An email from the professor of the course in which the paper or project was completed must also be sent to Carolyn Johnson, assistant professor at the B.D. Owens Library.
All entries will be judged by a panel of Northwest librarians and professors. Complete details and guidelines for the contests are available at www.nwmissouri.edu/library/day.htm.
