Study Missouri invites international, study abroad students to enter photo contest

International students and students studying abroad may be eligible to win funding toward their education expenses by entering a photo contest sponsored by Study Missouri.

To enter, the photographer must be a current student at a Missouri college or university, and the photograph must have been taken in a country where the photographer attended college. Photo content must be “true to life” and may not contain images added via photo editing tools such as Photoshop.

Photos should be submitted electronically as a jpeg file at least 5.0 mega pixels. Only original photos taken by the submitting student will be accepted. Only three entries per person will be allowed.

Attach the photo in an email titled, “Photo Contest” to StudyMissouriPhotoContest@gmail.com. Include your name, country, whether you are an international student or a study-away student, the name of your institution and date of your photo.

Include a caption of no more than 100 words describing where the photo was taken and why the photo is significant.

The deadline to submit entries is 11:59 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20.

The grand prize is $200. Prizes also will be awarded in each category, international and study away, consisting of $150 for first place, $100 for second place and $75 for third place.

All high-quality entries will be displayed Feb. 29 during International Education Day in the Missouri State Capitol rotunda. Submitted photos automatically give Study Missouri the right to reprint and use the photo in promotional materials and online. Contest participants also agree to allow Study Missouri to print and judge the photo.
