Dr. Abdul Mottaleb, analytical chemist at Northwest Missouri State University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, has joined the editorial advisory board for the analytical chemistry section of the a peer-reviewed journal Phytochemical Analysis.
Editor-in-Chief S.D. Sarker selected Mottaleb for his contributions to advance scientific knowledge in the area of analytical chemistry.
Mottaleb, who joined the Northwest staff in 2009, manages the analytical and bioanalytical, biochemistry, nanomaterials laboratories in the CIE, a state-of-the-art, mixed-use incubator with emphasis on technology-based, start-up companies. Previously, Mottaleb was a research professor and scientist at Baylor University. He has taught and completed research in Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.
His expertise includes method development, analysis and tracking of occurrence, transport and fate of anthropogenic contaminants in aquatic ecosystems; biotransformation and bioavailability of persistent organic pollutants; and bioconcentration of fragrances (nitro musks) and toxic chemicals in the different environmental compartments and aquatic organisms.Last year, Mottaleb was selected to serve on the United States Environmental Protection Agency's Science Advisory Board. He also serves as a member of the editorial boards for International Journal of Current Research, Maejo International Journal of Science and Technology, and the International Journal of Pure & Applied Sciences and Technology.
