Panhellenic Council sponsors annual Angel Tree drive to provide gifts to families
Members of the Northwest Missouri State University community can help make the holiday season special for those in need by purchasing a holiday gift through the Panhellenic Council's 14th annual Angel Tree drive.
More than 50 paper angels are available at the Office of Campus Activities, located on the second floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union. Participants in the charity effort select a paper angel inscribed with gift suggestions. After picking an angel, donors - either individuals or groups - purchase the gifts and return gift-wrapped packages to the Office of Campus Activities by 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2.
Members of the University's Greek community will deliver the gifts to Maryville Middle School and the Children and Family Center of Northwest Missouri, which make sure the packages reach the intended recipients in time for Christmas.
The Panhellenic Council is the administrative and governing body of Northwest’s five sororities. The organization works to foster a supportive environment that values scholarship, service and personal growth through a unified sisterhood.
“Panhellenic coordinates the angel tree because we feel it is important that we give back to the Maryville community and provide to those in need," said Erica Williams, president of Panhellenic Council. "As sorority women each of our organizations are founded on a value of service, so the angel tree program allows us to reinforce our one of our founding values.”
