A Northwest Missouri State University fraternity will raise funding to benefit ALS patients with its first “All in for ALS” poker tournament, Sunday, Dec. 4, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Boardroom.
Entry is $5. Sign-up for the tournament, sponsored by Phi Delta Theta, begins at 11:30 a.m. Play begins at noon, and prizes will be distributed at 5 p.m.
The event is open to the public.
All proceeds will benefit the ALS Association, the fraternity’s national philanthropy. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, often referred to as “Lou Gehrig's Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. About 5,600 people in the United States are diagnosed with ALS each year, and the life expectancy of an ALS patient averages about two to five years
