The Northwest Missouri State University forensics team traveled Oct. 28-30 to Metropolitan Community College-Longview in Lee’s Summit, where the team competed in a two-day tournament against 27 other schools including in-state rivals Truman State University, University of Central Missouri and Webster University.
Northwest placed eighth overall in the tournament with a fifth-place finish on the first day and a 10th-place finish on day two.
Carl Stafford, a senior speech and theatre education major from St. Louis, led the team, placing among the top five in dramatic interpretation, poetry interpretation and prose interpretation.
“We continue to get better every weekend,” said Director of Forensics Brian Swafford. “Carl continues to demonstrate why he is one of the top performers in the region while some of our first-year competitors are on the verge of greatness.”
