The Northwest Missouri State University Wellness Center is offering a walk-in flu shot clinic from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. each Friday for the rest of the trimester.
The walk-in clinic is free for all Northwest employees as part of their employment benefits. Students will be charged $20 and may pay with their Bearcat Card, cash or check.
University Wellness Services reminds the Northwest community that seasonal flu vaccines protect against the three influenza viruses that research indicates are most common during the upcoming flu season.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends people get a seasonal flu vaccine as soon as it becomes available in their community. The CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses.
More information about the vaccine and ways individuals can protect themselves from the flu is available at http://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/keyfacts.htm.
For more information regarding the flu clinic, contact University Wellness Services at 660.562.1348 or visit its website at www.nwmissouri.edu/wellness.
