Northwest Missouri State University has unveiled an iPhone application to provide mobile phone access to University news, sports, calendars and social media.
The new iPhone application enhances access to news releases and photographs, sports and scores, the University events calendar, links to the University's social media accounts as well as links to the University homepage, CatPAWS and directory search.
With the application, users on the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch who view the "News" or "Calendar" tabs can stay informed and experience instant access to Northwest tools. The "Calendar" tab also allows users to add events directly to the calendar on their Apple device to personalize their schedule and set event reminders.
Users can download and install the app for free by logging on to the iTunes App Store and searching for "Northwest Missouri State University" or by clicking here.
Mallory Murray, Northwest's chief officer of marketing and design, said there was a growing demand for the iPhone app as more people accessed the University website from their phones.
"We wanted a way for the Northwest community, alumni and friends to use their mobile devices to stay up to date on Northwest news and events as well as athletic scores," Murray said.
The application's development came from a collaboration between the offices of University Relations and Information Technology. Junior Multimedia Developer Tim Lindsey designed much of the code for the application while graphic designers and other staff members in University Relations researched and compiled the elements needed for the app.
