Public invited to participate in research study for beginning runners

Northwest Missouri State University students and employees, as well as local residents, are invited to participate in a free research study designed to have its participants running a 5K in 9 weeks.

Participants will be required to attend weekly meetings beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Monday or Tuesday evenings, from Sept. 6 through Nov. 1. Participants must also have proof of a physical examination before joining the study.

Benefits to participating include a free training T-shirt, free race registration for a 5K race on Nov. 6 and a free training program with progress monitoring.

The pre-registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 2. Participants may register by completing a pre-registration survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/NW5Kresearch.  

The study, which is free for all participants, is funded by a Northwest Applied Research Grant.
