Northwest working with students affected by TKE house fire
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University is working to assist fraternity members displaced by a fire that struck their house this morning.
Maryville Public Safety responded to the Tau Kappa Epsilon house, located off-campus at 555 W. Ninth St., at 4:58 a.m. after University staff members spotted the fire. Damage to the house was extensive.
There were no reports of injuries. No students were living in the house this summer.
Northwest's Office of Residential Life will work to accommodate fraternity members who request assistance because they were planning to live in the house when they returned for the fall trimester.
The structure, completed in 1999, can house up to 32 residents. The house also was undergoing renovations this summer.
The Maryville Public Safety Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
