MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State Students have just more than a week to submit photos from their summer internships for the Office of Career Services annual "Internship Photo Contest."
The contest ends Friday, Aug. 12, and the winner receives a $100 Visa card. A second-place winner will receive a $30 Barnes and Noble gift card, courtesy of the Bearcat Bookstore.
To be eligible for the contest, students must be enrolled at Northwest, and the experience shown in the photo must have occurred between Aug. 30, 2010 and Aug. 12, 2011. Students may submit one photo, and the photo should include the student.
Additionally, photo submissions must include an explanation of what makes the experience "cool," along with the student's name and a photo caption. Entries should be no longer than 300 words. The student's name will be published on the Career Services website with the photo and description.
Students may upload their photos directly by logging in to the Career Services website. Anyone can view the photos on the website, where they also may be sorted by year and major. For more criteria, see the Photo Contest page.
A panel of judges is appointed by Career Services to select the winning photo, and a prize will be awarded.
The Office of Career Services has sponsored the contest since 2008 as a way to highlight Northwest students' participation in variety of learning opportunities. The contest is open to all students participating in both credit and non-credit internships, field experiences, practicums and other similar experiences.
Past photo submissions have depicted students in marketing positions for baseball teams and radio stations, assisting with park naturalist programs or teaching overseas. Last summer's winner, Brock Houston submitted a photo of himself tagging sharks as part of his internship assisting a University of Southern Mississippi doctoral student along the Gulf Coast.
