Ag education major receives scholarship in memory of Savannah native

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Sarah Hixson, a sophomore at Northwest Missouri State University, is the recipient of the Matthew White Memorial Scholarship for the 2011-12 academic year.

The scholarship is in memory of Matthew White, an agriculture business major at Northwest who died in 2005 as the result of an automobile accident after completing his sophomore year. The scholarship was established in 2006 by his parents and alumni, Steve and Julie White of Savannah. 

Hixson is an agriculture education major from Gower and is the daughter of Gregory and Brenda Hixson.

The endowed scholarship is awarded to a continuing student at Northwest who is majoring in agriculture. A scholarship of at least $500 is awarded with preference to graduates of Savannah High School in Savannah, North Andrew High School in Rosendale as well as Missouri or Iowa residents.
