MARYVILLE, Mo. - Students at Northwest Missouri State University recently voted to decide who will represent them on the 89th Student Senate for 2011-2012.
Andrew Maddux, a senior from Council Bluffs, Iowa, was elected president of the Student Senate. He is working on a major in public relations and a minor in comprehensive crisis response at Northwest.
Maddux was elected to the Northwest Student Senate as a campus representative during his freshman year and has served on a variety of committees in addition to serving as treasurer of the 88th Student Senate. He also served as president of Northwest's Public Relations Student Society of America chapter and works as a resident assistant.
As president Maddux said he hopes to enhance communication within Student Senate and redevelop a student affairs committee to address concerns and issues among students. Maddux said the Student Senate also will strive to increase collaboration with campus organizations and departments.
Joining Maddux on the Senate's executive board are Executive Vice President Jordan Raffety, a junior political science major from Drexel; Executive Secretary Emily Hoffman, a junior education major from Liberty; and Executive Treasurer Riley Ziemer, a sophomore business management major from Winchester, Kan.
Winners of the campus elections were announced at the Student Senate meeting April 19.
