MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University will celebrate its annual Northwest Week, Monday, April 11, through Friday, April 15.
With "Bearcat Getaway" as this year's theme, the daily activities begin Monday at the Memorial Bell Tower, where students may customize pairs of flip flops or airbrush T-shirts from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In case of inclimate weather, the activity will be in the map area on the second floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union.
Also Monday, the Northwest Student Senate will reveal its new logo. The Student Senate sponsored a design contest earlier this year, with the designer of the winning logo receiving a $50 prize.
In conjunction with Northwest activities related to Earth Day, Northwest Week includes an Arbor Day Celebration, beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Students also are invited to participate in a "Spring Clean-Up" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
Other activities include "Bearcat Cab," a spin on the popular TV show "Cash Cab." Northwest students will patrol the campus in a golf cart and award prizes to people who correctly answer Northwest trivia questions. The week also will include a comedy show featuring regional comedians at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Charles Johnson Theater.
Northwest Week culminates with the University's spring concert featuring the Goo Goo Dolls. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at Bearcat Arena.
