MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Student Senate at Northwest Missouri State University is sponsoring a blood drive from 11 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday in the Tower View Dining room, located on the third floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union.
Donors may sign up online at http://www.esavealifenow.org/ and use the sponsor code nwmsu. Donors also may contact Tamera Dunn, Student Senate's on-campus representative and civic service co-chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 660.562.1218 with their name and preferred donation time.
The Student Senate recently was awarded the Community Blood Center's 2010 Largest Blood Drive award for collecting the most units of blood in a single calendar year. The Student Senate was recognized for the feat at a March 24 banquet.
The Northwest community and Maryville residents donated a record-breaking 262 units during the three-day blood drive last fall. Student Senate estimates donors helped save 1,086 lives based on a formula that three lives are saved with every unit collected.
Student Senate blood drives are coordinated with the Community Blood Center, which is the sole supplier of St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.
