Dr. Roger Von Holzen, who oversees distance learning services, textbook services and the Center for Information Technology in Education at Northwest Missouri State University, gave a presentation titled "Moving from Digital Books to eTextbooks: What a True eTextbook Should Look Like," Feb. 28 at the 2011 ACU Connect Summit conference in Abilene, Texas.
Von Holzen, discussed the current state of eTextbooks and delved into the technical, pedagogical and social issues behind the failure of the current batch of digital textbooks to gain a viable foothold in the American educational landscape.
Von Holzen also explored and demonstrated an extensive array of features that will be required to move from the static world of printed textbooks into the fully integrated realm of true eTextbooks.
