MARYVILLE, Mo. - As Northwest Missouri State University's women's basketball team prepares to compete in this week's Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Tournament at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Bearcat fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets from Northwest. Fans also are invited to a Bearcat celebration sponsored by the Northwest Alumni Association.
The Northwest women, the tournament's No. 1 seed, will play Truman State University at noon Friday, March 4. A first-round Northwest win would have the Bearcats playing in the 6 p.m. semifinal game on Saturday, and another win places them in the finals, beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Immediately following Friday's Northwest-Truman game, Bearcat fans are invited to a family-friendly postgame gathering from 3 to 5 p.m. at Johnny's Tavern, 1310 Grand Blvd., in downtown Kansas City, just four blocks east of Municipal Auditorium. Complimentary appetizers will be provided by the Northwest Alumni Association, and a cash bar will be available. In addition, Wren Baker, Northwest's new athletics director, will be in attendance to meet Bearcat fans. The event is free and open to the public.
Bearcat fans also are encouraged to follow "Northwest Missouri State University Alumni" and "Northwest Missouri State University" on Facebook where they can submit photographs through Sunday for a spirit contest as well as download a profile picture to show their Bearcat pride.
