American Marketing Association to host marketing conference April 4

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The American Marketing Association of Northwest Missouri State University will host a "Speed Marketing" conference at 9 a.m., Monday, April 4, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom.

Early registration for the conference is available for $10 until Tuesday, March 1. Late registration is $15 and will be available until Wednesday, March 30. All registration fees include lunch and can be charged to university accounts. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and the conference concludes by 3 p.m.

The conference will allow students to discover how successful companies are using emerging marketing and media for their customers and products. Students will learn techniques on how to market themselves and gain insight into potential careers for various marketing elements and industries.

Although the conference focuses on marketing and business-related fields, all majors are encouraged to attend. AMA also invites area high school students who are interested in pursuing degrees and careers in the marketing and business fields.

The conference will feature keynote speaker Brooks Thomas, Southwest Airlines emerging media coordinator, and breakout sessions hosted by Northwest alumni. Breakout session topics include- sports marketing, logistics, event planning, public relations, non-profit marketing and advertising. 

"Emerging marketing and media are growing fields likely used in any professional field," said Allison Hoffmann, AMA advisor and instructor in the Department of Marketing and Management. "With breakout sessions focusing on various areas there will be something for everyone."

Career Services, Northwest Foundation, Northwest Alumni Association and Campus Dining are co-sponsoring the conference, with support from the Business Women of Missouri.
