Northwest students, staff raising money to fight childhood cancer
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University chapter of St. Jude Up ‘Til Dawn is sponsoring its annual Colden Pond Plunge to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Up ‘Til Dawn hosts the event as an opportunity for the Northwest community to raise money by donating to volunteers who are willing to "take the plunge." Four volunteers who raise the most money will jump into Colden Pond at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25.

"The Colden Pond Plunge is our Up ‘Til Dawn program's second biggest fundraiser of the year," said Laura Yeager, Northwest St. Jude's Up ‘Til Dawn executive director. "We are so excited to see just how much of an impact the Northwest community can make for the children at the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital."
Volunteers have donation jars available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the J.W. Jones Student Union until Friday, Feb. 18.
Donations are being sought for students Joe Barbosa, Kevin Birdsell, John Carr, Sam Cole, Rob O'Doherty, Kelsi Jo Franklin, Michael Hoffman, Kyla Kirksey, Gunner Sumy, Erica Williams and Laura Yeager.
Northwest staff members accepting donations are Sean Eddington, Missouri Academy residential counselor; Benjamin McCollum, men's basketball coach; Steve Sutton, Northwest Alumni Association director and Candice Wolf, campus activities assistant director.
Founded in 1998, Up 'til Dawn has grown into a nationwide philanthropy with organizations at more than 150 colleges and universities. The campaign consists of a variety of fundraising efforts during the fall and spring and culminates with all-night celebrations by participating groups on each campus.
