Northwest President Dr. John Jasinski issued the following statement in response to Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon's State of State address:
The Governor and his team clearly have difficult choices to make and there is never a best solution. That said, it is apparent fundamental change across all sectors is more crucial than ever before as we strive for continued growth in our state covering the likes of an educated citizenry, economic development and a healthy climate related to personal, organizational and societal prosperity.
We applaud and appreciate Governor Nixon's sincere efforts to create a higher playing field that is accessible, affordable and of high quality. We know the General Assembly has much difficult work ahead and are comforted to know that our area lawmakers Senator Lager, Representative Thomson and Representative Schaaf are champions of education and fully understand the value of higher education to the state's economic and overall health.
