Prospective pledges invited to fraternity open houses
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Students interested in joining one of the nine fraternities at Northwest Missouri State University are invited to attend open houses Feb. 18-20.
The open houses are free events sponsored by individual fraternities to provide opportunities for students to meet people and learn about joining a fraternity.
Spring recruitment classes usually are smaller than fall classes, providing better opportunities for new members to get to know their pledge brothers and fraternity members, said Kenneth Hamilton, vice president of recruitment for the Interfraternity Council.
Hamilton also noted fraternities at Northwest are governed by a specific set of bylaws that prevent hazing activities. Prospective members must also have a grade point average of at least 2.3.
"The best thing to do is to meet a few members of a fraternity and see if you get along with them," Hamilton said. "Ask a few questions and you'll know whether or not that is the fraternity you want to join."
All open houses begin at 5 p.m. Dates and addresses of each house are listed below. For more information about fraternity recruitment and events, contact Hamilton at email@example.com or at 712.303.5510.
