MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University students and employees as well as area residents are invited to participate in a free Weekly Meditation Time offered by the University Wellness Center/Personal Development & Counseling
The weekly sessions are Tuesdays, from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m., beginning Feb. 15 and continuing to April 26. The sessions will be in the First Ladies Dining Room on the third floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union.
The group will not meet March 22 due to the University's Spring Break.
The Weekly Meditation Time consists of weekly meditation sessions meant to introduce individuals to this ancient practice and offer a time for participants to gather on a weekly basis to share this activity as a meditation community. Participants are encouraged to bring a pillow or thick towel to sit on.
The art of meditation has been practiced for thousands of years by individuals throughout the world and is not exclusively associated with any specific belief system or religious denomination.
It has been proven to enhance the overall health and well-being of people who practice it on a routine basis. Additional benefits include improved focus and attention, and a sense of inner calmness.
