LIBERTY, Mo. - The artwork of Holly Schenk will be displayed through March 21 at the Northwest Missouri State University Kansas City Center.
The exhibit opens with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1. The Northwest Kansas City Center is in the Blue Jay Tower Plaza located at 8 Victory Lane in Liberty. The public is invited to attend.
An art teacher, Schenk has bachelor's and master's degrees in art education. Schenk was the recipient of an Honor Award at the 2010 Liberty Arts Squared Festival.
Her artwork consists primarily of acrylic paintings and pastels. She also ventures into two-dimensional work, including caricatures and collage. Her subjects often develop from personal reference photos.
"While I like doing objective and non-objective, traditional and non-traditional work, color is always a central focus," Schenk said. "I love looking at the world and seeing the amazing array of colors, shapes and relationships that surround us every day, and then to share that vision through my artwork."
The Northwest Kansas City Center is open to the public, and the art can be viewed between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Northwest's Kansas City Center offers graduate programs in curriculum and instruction; educational leadership; health, physical education, recreation and dance; instructional technology and business administration.
