Winter Art Show and Pottery Sale to benefit art students, clubs
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University Clay Club will host its annual Winter Art Show and Pottery Sale this weekend at the Fire Arts Building, located south of the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building at the south end of campus.
The event will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11.
Students from all studio areas are encouraged to participate in the show and sale, which offers pottery, sculpture, paintings, drawings, prints and photographs.
Artwork can be purchased by cash or check. Shoppers are reminded a line of customers often forms before the show opens.
"The sale is an excellent opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts," said Laura Kukkee, assistant professor of art and head of the ceramics program at Northwest. "There should be something to fit everyone's taste and budget. We have many, many bowls, cups and plates for sale this year, and glazes range from very neutral and subtle to very colorful and playful."
Eighty-five percent of the proceeds go directly to students, and helps offset the cost of art supplies. Remaining proceeds support art-oriented activities such as field trips and other co-curricular activities for the Clay Club and Art Association. For more information, contact Kukkee at 660.562.1324 or KUKKEE@nwmissouri.edu.
