Forensics team takes fifth sweepstakes award of season

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University forensics team earned its fifth sweepstakes trophy of the year Saturday at the Cameron University Christmas Classic Speech and Debate Tournament in Lawton, Okla.

Competing among 27 teams, Northwest finished third in overall sweepstakes and second in the Pi Kappa Delta sweepstakes.

Carl Stafford led the way with a first place finish in dramatic interpretation. Jory Baker took third in program oral interpretation, fifth in poetry and third in dramatic interpretation.

Taylor Cayce and Camron Hull earned sixth place and 10th place, respectively, for speaking awards in debate.
