Northwest's annual Yuletide Feaste set for Dec. 3 and 4
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Department of Music at Northwest Missouri State University will transform the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom into a 16th century Yuletide Feaste. The annual event will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 and Saturday, Dec. 4.
More than 60 students and faculty will provide a glimpse back to the Christmas traditions of Tudor England with an elegant royal banquet. It will include dancers, lords and ladies dressed in Renaissance attire, and music from the Northwest Madraliers, the Recorder Consort and the Royal Brass Quintet.
"The Yuletide Feaste is a fantastic opportunity for families to get together and begin their celebration of the holiday season," said Dr. Brian Lanier, associate professor of music. "The wonderful music, beautiful decorations and amazing food all combine to create a magical atmosphere, which transports guests back in time to an entertainment experience that can only be found at the Northwest Yuletide Feaste. People travel from distances far and near to enjoy the event and spend time with family and friends at this annual presentation."
The menu at the royal dinner will be King George salad, carved steamship of beef, cinnamon pork loin, rosemary baby red potatoes, sweet corn pudding, balsamic glazed carrots, Canterbury stuffing, assorted rustic breads, apple walnut cake, wassail, coffee and tea.
